Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel

 

When traveling abroad, you might have used short-term transportation cards designed for travelers staying for a brief period. I too found it very handy during my trip to Singapore and even kept the Singapore Tourist Pass as a souvenir. Starting from July 1st, Seoul, the mecca of K-pop, will also offer a public transportation discount card for tourists called the "Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel."

 

1. Types and Prices of Seoul Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel

[Types]

The Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel comes in four types: 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day passes. If you purchase the 5-day pass, you can enjoy unlimited access to Seoul's public transportation for just 3,000 KRW per day, which is an incredible deal.

[Price]

As of June 2024, when comparing the basic fare of Seoul's public transportation, you'll truly appreciate the value. The fares are as follows: village bus (1,200 KRW), city bus (1,500 KRW), and subway (1,500 KRW). When you consider round-trip and transfer fees, visiting more than three places in a day can easily justify the benefits of a 1-day pass or more.

2. The Various Benefits of the Seoul Climate Companion Card

The Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel not only offers discounts on public transportation fares, but also provides a 50% discount on admission to the Seoul Science Museum and Seoul Grand Park. It retains the existing benefits of discounts on cultural and performance facilities that apply to the regular Companion Card. Recently, many provinces have introduced a system called the "Resident Card," which allows discounts on cultural facility admission fees within their cities and counties. Similarly, the Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel can be used in this way, making it very beneficial for many visitors to Seoul.

3. How to Purchase the Seoul Climate Companion Card

The Companion Card for Climate-Friendly Travel will be available for purchase starting July 1st. Foreigners can buy and use the card in physical form.
